72-76 350 #8 Heads TH350

Hey everyone,

Cleaning out the storage shed to possibly sell a 69 Firebird project and found an Olds 350 with TH350 we helped pull about 20 years ago. Block casting 395558 2 with #8 heads. I'm not an Olds specialist but my google fu says this is a rather unimpressive specimen from the 72-76 era with chambers large enough to echo louder than my wife telling me to empty the dish washer.

We do not remember why it was pulled but my father seems to think it was a blown head gasket - but more comically - thought it was a 455 so we kept to for possible use in the aforementioned Firebird. Based on what I see here, it's time to get rid of it.

Any idea if this combo is worth anything beyond 50-100$ for the two cores? If someone on the forums wants it for bottom dollar and will pick it up, message me.

Located in Las Vegas, NV. Appreciate any feedback!

The heads are 73-76. The VIN derivative will tell you the exact model year of the block and trans.

Happy Monday Joe!

Appreciate the info about 73 vs 72. Where is the VIN located? Engine is a bit greasy and knowing where to clean off would save a bit of time and mess.

And a minor correction to my original post; the engine was pulled because the vehicle was totaled but it was running and driving otherwise. Pulled in '97 but we didn't write down what it came out of.

The second character is the model year.

VIN derivative is 36R160270. So looks like a '76 Arlington motor. Another family member remembers it being a wagon so maybe a Cutlass Supreme Cruiser.
