Parting out 1968 Delmont 88 B07 Police Package

As the title states, I will be parting out a '68 Delmont 88 ordered with the B07 police package. This is a 2 door and is equipped with the 390 HP 455, T400 tranny, 3.08 Posi, certified police speedo, rear sway bar etc. Additionally, it has a complete UHV Ignition system. The car is complete, does not run. The tranny and front/rear sway bars are spoken for. I have not checked to see if the engine has the forged steel crankshaft yet, but it is possible. Most of the sheet metal is shot. Doors seem good as is most of the trim. I believe this also has the four piston calipers as well, although they would need rebuilt. All interested parties can e-mail bponti442@aol.com or call 501-454-4947.

Here is an update with pricing. All prices are before shipping. I get excellent freight dicounts for the large items (up to 68.5% off).

3.08 Posi rear, code QN, very good condition - $650
4 Piston caliper brakes (calipers, spindels, rotors, prop valve, etc - $350
Certified Police Speedo - $175
UHV Ignition System, complete (harness is currently being restored) - $950
Fenders - $100 a side
Doors (includes door panels, that should clean up nicely) - $135 a side

Aside from this, I have a standard/standard 455 forged steel crankshaft (no, did not come from this engine), casting 400943, will need turned - $850

Still have the complete '68 455 engine, currently locked up. Engine is complete, air cleaner to oil pan with all accessories. The carb on this car is the same number used on a '68 Hurst Olds. Finally, this car has a nice boxed frame (same as the convertible). Very dirty, but not all rusted out. Taking offers. We are willing to make someone a package offer on frame, disc brakes, and posi rear to keep it a roller. If there is something someone needs off this car that is not listed, just e-mail or call. All interested parties can e-mail bponti442@aol.com or call 501-454-4947.

Sorry, but if you read the first post, it says the rear sway bar is already spoken for. The boxed arms are available, but the driver's side is junk (rusted through where the sway bar/shims sit against it).

I did see this car on Flea Bay, and got a bunch of pics from the seller. The price they were looking for was a bit too high IMO, hopefully you do well with it. I really wanted the rear sway, but that obviously went quick.

The first time they had it listed, it was way too high IMO, especially factoring in the price to go get it. The second time they listed it, they cut the price in half. At that point, it was a good deal as far as I was concerned. The engine (which just sold today) and UHV was worth more than the car and the cost to go get it. I don't know if we'll hit a grand slam, but some money will be made and maybe some other Delmont out there will get fixed.

What a unique car. Wonder if it was originally ordered for civilian use or by a police department for investigative/detective work. Someone knew what they were doing when they ordered this Delmont.

Yes, it was a very unique car. According to the gentleman I bought it from, the long time second owner, the original owner was a wealthy businessman who owned a lot of service stations in the Kansas City, MO area. He specially ordered the car for his own use and it took him 6 months to receive it. Sounds legit. Anyway, supposedly he traded it in on a new Vette and then this gentleman bought it. It was an awfully neat car and it's a shame it couldn't have been saved.

I'm looking for some interior AC duct parts, specifically the 2nd Design (top) shown in this pic. I need the manifold and the top diverter duct. These are located behind the dash, right in front of the radio. and extending to the center vent.

Thanks for sharing the photos, especially things still in place before dismantling, you can never duplicate that again. The uhv box, etc.

+1. Such a shame it ended up in this condition.

Yea, it was a really neat car and unfortunate it ended up the way it did. The car is now gone and the only thing left is the 4 piston disc brakes.

My wheels are 15 inch. Not sure what size wheels were on this car and if that affects weather the calipers / rotors are compatible. Not sure if Olds had 14" disc brakes in 68.

Being that this car was not only a full size, but a B07 option car, the wheels were 15 inch (I still have the original wheel covers/hub caps in nice shape). The steel wheels were made to clear the 4 pistons calipers. As for 14 inch wheels, according to the chassis service manual, they were an option and they too would have been a 4 piston caliper. I cannot find what wheels though. I'll do some research and check the parts and assembly manual because from my recollection, the standard 14x6 SSIs and SSIIs would not clear the caliper.

bponti, for kicks and giggles, when you have time, can you post a pick of the hubcaps? Just curious as to what the police-package car came with.
