original 70 dated front spiral shocks

a pair of front spiral shocks, dated 297th day of 1969. Great addition to your 70 show car. $200 plus shipping for the pair.

Thanks,

It is a numbers thing, not a new or used thing. These can be rebuilt for that high end car. You are not going to find these new. I have a set of fronts that I was going to put on eBay last week for the same price but not had time. I will wait now that he has some listed.

Could you please provide a photo of the part number on your shocks?
Thanks.

WOW, I guess I better look in my old rollaway to see what I did with the original shocks when I took them off in 1970 something. Who rebuilds them ?

Chris, howdy. The pistons I got from you will be going in the 455 soon. How is your car coming ? Any pics ?

Who rebuilds these and are they worth rebuilding compared to todays technology? I thought they reproduced the spiral shock?

they do reproduce at least the backs but from what I can tell (and heard) they are made longer than the originals. These are definitely a cool part for the right car.

Am I missing seeing all the photos? I can view four total, with the 2nd and 3rd showing the dates put not the part number.

Is a judge actually going to pull the front wheel off the car and get a flashlight and try and read those numbers inside the coil springs?

$200.00 doesn't seem too bad for a nice set of original shocks. Some guy was trying to sell me a couple of small tin heater hose support brackets for $50.00.

Not at the Olds nationals but yes, some shows will crawl under the car and look at things.

While its the road less traveled, sometimes having all original and correct dated parts on a car, original or restored can be very gratifying.

The Vintage Certification Program at MCACN, puts cars on a lift and yes the shocks are checked ; )

I had a 1969 Survivor Z28 there this year and the original shocks....all 4 have never been removed or replaced on the car.

That's because the MCACN judging is more like the high level Corvette judging. There is nowhere near enough time to judge at that level at the OCA Nats. But...yeah...I have to agree, there IS a certain satisfaction in knowing that everything is as it was originally. And...most often original stuff used or NOS, functions and fits better than repro stuff.

For MCACN survivor judging, what would you way more heavily on something like a shock absorber; the correct part number or an appropriate date?
