Yes, I send photos showing how the pieces are supposed to be installed- and I offer support, tips and guidance for the actual cover installation process for folks who buy from me.
I've helped quite a few folks restore their first set of seats via long distance.

I just want to clarify as i've had a few people ask me...
These kits DO NOT include: Seat Covers, Seat Buns\Foam, Cotton batting
I can help provide guidance for purchasing those items if you need.
These kits provide all the OTHER items needed to properly restore seats that are often left out or are difficult to obtain, in one combined kit.

Hello Ben, I have a 70 Cutlass convertible, bench seat with an middle arm rest. The bottom seat is very soft and springy. I have to use a hard plastic board to sit on it. Do you sell just the bottom spring?
#11
I have generic medium loop spring in 9ga & 11ga that I sell by the foot that is used used to repair broken GM Seat springs, but I don't sell complete spring assemblies.
Typically ALL of your springs are not likely bad, you probably have one or two (or 3 or 4 LOL) broken which lead the whole thing to feel like it has no support.
Fix those and you'll be back in business... But you really need to pull the seat out and strip it down to properly figure out what exactly is wrong with it first, then make a repair plan.
HIt me up if you have any questions, I'm happy to help!

Hi Al- Thats not really what this thread is about, and its not the kind of project that I do- but for that project you are looking at a lot of spring and frame fabrication work along with 100% custom upholstery work.. I would estimate you will be looking between $2k-$3k to complete that project.
At least thats what it would cost in THIS area to walk in off the street and have a legit shop do it.
Much cheaper and easier to just locate a set of factory buckets and have them restored with reproduction covers.

Ben, this looks like a really complete kit that should bring back the original feel and eliminate those popping noises considering it comes with springs. I've never done springs before, I assume these are cut with a die grinder and clipped to the frame sort of like hog rings?

You can use a die grinder to cut springs and edgewire, but i find it quicker and easier to use bolt cutters- but yes, there are spring clips (included in the kit) that are used to clamp it all together. Seat spring assemblies are all clamped together, they are not welded (makes spring steel brittle, and it breaks).
Send me an email with your needs and I can hook you up.

Will definitely hit you up when I do my buckets, although I suspect that will be a next winter project. If you were close, I'd just hire you to do it. We have shops around here, but they don't spend much time getting the foundation correct. And while the final product looks nice, you might end up with that crunching spring sliding over spring noise or the dead spring, soft spot. My "opinion" is that replacing springs is critical, especially on the high fatigue driver seat.
Ben, do you have any advice on preferred vendor for the actual covers? It seems most folks like Legendary, but I don't have enough experience to know what the difference is.

Bringing back to the top-
I am still making these kits... Still making custom spring repair parts.
If you are still stuck at home, this is a great time to restore your seats!
Cost on the Install kits has risen a bit since this was posted, they are now $100 / kit + $20 shipping, however I'll still knock off shippinig on the 2nd kit if you buy front & rear kits at the same time.

Hard to tell with the covers on, but the lower cushion looks nearly rusted through the stamped part of the frame.
I wouldn't toss anything until you have found a replacement though.
Also- this is a classifieds ad, so if you have seat project questions, please post them in the interiors forum where myself and others can see it and reply, or PM me about it if you don't want to post to everyone.
Thanks!
Ben

The basic kits are now $110+$20shipping (USPS Priority flat rate large).
If ordering front and rear kits together, I will knock shipping off the 2nd kit (Still comes in two boxes)
Spring repair parts cost depends completely on what is needed.... If combined with a seat kit, repair parts are discounted further.
email me or PM me if interested.

These kits are the bomb for rebuilding your seats! If you don't need to replace your springs, then all you need is foam and upholstery, Ben provides everything else including step by step instructions in the kit.

Thanks for the continued interest in my seat install/padding kits.. however at this time I am no longer selling these kits.
I -DO- still have a large supply of the GM sized seat spring, and will sell 25ft Rolls (9ga or 11ga) - $40 each + Shipping
I am continuing to offer my services making custom repair & reinforcement spring parts as needed for GM buckets and bench seats, if you need that PM me
I also have paper covered rod in 25ft rolls for $15 each + Shipping
In regards to the rest of kit contents... Since I'm not selling them anymore, I am happy to provide my sources for the materials that were in my kits, and what I have been using in my seat restorations:
55lb High Density automotive grade Foam for backseats:
https://www.albrightssupply.com/poly...-82-polmatsup2 (I cut the 55" side into two 27.5" slabs, that is enough for upper and lower rear cushions. There are cheaper foam options available but this is the best and what I used and recommend)
Burlap
https://www.albrightssupply.com/burlap-burlap (4yds will do both back seat cushions or a bench seat, 3 yards will do a pair of buckets)
Jute - Trunk liner
https://www.albrightssupply.com/trun...-grey-54-tl188 (This is a really wide roll so folded in half you get double...so 2 yards will do both rear seat cushions, 2 yards for pair of buckets. I have used various materials for this over the years, this was/is what I most recently used),
Muslin Cloth
https://www.albrightssupply.com/muslin-40-m4000 (this is used if you are going to use foam, you will want a couple yards of this to cut up into wide strips to glue onto the foam, you then hogring the muslin strips to the spring assembly- hogrings will pull right through foam)
Hog Rings
https://www.albrightssupply.com/hog-...nt-backs-hogr1 (hogrings... Normally i get the straight backed ones but they didn't list them right now, you can also buy these from amazon. 1lb is enough to do both back seat cushions or a pair of buckets. 2lbs worth if you are going to do both front & back)
Spring Repair Clips
https://www.albrightssupply.com/border-wire-clip-av7707 (if you have any spring repairs to do you are going to need these)
DAP Weldwood High Temp Glue
https://www.albrightssupply.com/dap-...llon-weldwoodg (this is NOT what you can get at your hardware store, this is what upholstery shops swear by because it does not let go in high heat. Its perfect for headliners, landeau tops, and gluing attachment strips onto foam, or jute padding onto the corners of seat frames etc. its made to be sprayed, but you can also brush it. I have a box of the cheap 2" brushes from harbor freight that i use with this stuff. Its AWESOME)
Albright has very reasonable shipping rates and if you order more than $200 its free shipping.
Anyway, I hope this information will help anyone looking to redo their seats.
I am still happy to help and answer questions about restoring seats... Either PM me directly or post a new thread in the interior forum
Thanks-
Ben

I used Thornton's seat foam for my 72 'vert. They claim to use the same supplier that GM used originally.
And BTW, thanks for the materials you supplied for my seats.
