70 455 long block.

As shown, $250 plus the ride.
I have a Fastenal store up the street...

There is virtually no ridge on the cylinders.
Believed to be a virgin motor. The E heads that
were on it had factory steel shim gaskets.
The oil in the cylinders was put there by me
to keep from flash rusting.

Pulled from a Supreme because of a knock.
At a minimal the crank will have to be turned.
Probably a N or nodular crank as well.

Can you post a pic of the area by the distributor hole, for casting date and (I believe) mold number?

Based on notes I jotted down from another thread on this site, the single digit indicates year the block was cast, and the number immediately below is the Julian date. Here's the breakdown:

1967 = 1
1968 = 2
1969 = 3
1970 = 4
etc

353 = Dec. 19

Therefore, your block appears to be cast on December 19, 1969

Yep, good information. Apparently the mold number (single digit) is not infallible, but is a good guide. The other number is definitely Julian casting date (late December). I'm looking for an earlier block, car built November '69.

Good luck with the sale, it's a great price for a '70 455 long block.

would 178 julian date be to early for your car Steve. Have one of those with the 3 mold number or maybe a 311

I need to check, I think car build julian date is 315. The 178 might be ideal.

Hi Az. Yes, it has the boss.
But I have a man driving up from
San Antonio tomorrow morning early
to pick it up. If the deal falls through
you are 3rd in line. Thanks for the interest.
