1967 cutlass bezels

Since i have the 2 bezels off, I thought I would paint the black insides. Im NOT a painter or have any experience. Any tips on kind/brand of paint, color, pre sanding? Taping? Etc???

I use 1” mask tape and carefully work around the outer edges of the black as close as possible. Doesn’t have to be perfect as you can clean up with some quad 0 steel wool after painting and removing tape. Anyway, mask off all the additional metal, scuff the black with some scotchbrite, then take a rag with a little lacquer thinner and prep the areas to be painted. I use any old flat black, not sure if that is factory correct but works well and looks fine.

I used 1/4" fine line tape and Eastwood Cassis semi-gloss. Maybe not correct, but it looks good. Don't forget the screw heads!

Honestly, I don't know why the yellow lights. It was a 60s thing. Mine are actually functional fog lights on a separate circuit. The outer/low beam holes have Hella H4 conversions with OSRAM bulbs. I think you can get Holley Retro brights in yellow, but they're expensive. Some just paint them with tinted clear.
Any of you fossils want to explain the yellow light thing? 😁
