Close by FIRE clear coat question

"She" [who must be obeyed] Parked the Cheby truck at a college dorm the other day [right before t-day] The car next to it caught fire and was put out fairly quickly.

The black plastic side mirror on the Cheby's passanger side door got blistered by the heat as well as the Cheby bowtie emblem on the trim on lower passanger door.

I don't want to do anything to it before the adjuster comes to take pics.
The paint on the door and hood has a yellowish color to it as well as some black smoke damage.

The long awaited question.

If the plastic Cheby Emblem on the door is blistered and the rear view mirror edge is blistered and it's 6-8" from the door/paint. Isn't it likely that the clear coast is toast?

Tires/glass etc are fine [or appear to be]

I just need some paint/heat knowledge before I speak with the adjuster.

Thanks,

Jamesbo

Correction

Make that 11" from the door to the outside edge of the mirror

Should be able to buff out the door. I would try that before I would repaint it. The outside of the mirror can be painted the black part.

Thanks,

I guess the pics don't show it but the plastic mirror is blistered. I looks like my face before my senior prom.

So You don't think the clear coat is shot?

I don't know if it is shot, but I would see what the adjuster had to say first. I think it would be worth trying to save it if you can. So would try buffing first than if that doesn't work than have it repainted. They sell replacement mirrors at any local parts store. LMC sells a lot of parts for them trucks.
