Had the old girl color sanded and buffed

I had really let the Cutlass go after having issues with the state inspection and other small things (like a new project or 3). It got to the point I felt bad letting people see her looking so bad. My body guy had a couple days wait on our current project (not an Olds, but a 68 Charger from my much younger days), so he said drop it off and he'd see what he could do.
I was floored when I walked in yesterday. I'll post some pics when it's done with all the stainless installed and a full bath. Can't wait to get her inspected and legal.
Tim

Definitely looking good... At least now the wife likes it now, therefore no reason to sell...

Impressive results.

Was that the original paint?
Single stage Lacquer?

I expect the paint was some sort of single stage enamel or urethane. The previous owner painted it in his garage. It looked good but obviously didn't hold up that well.

Can you give me a quick explanation on color sanding? Is it the same as compound and waxing? Your car looks great and looks like what I could use on my 70 c/s with twenty + paint. Thanks Alan

I can give you my use of the term. It is generally a wet sand with a fairly fine grit wet/dry sandpaper. I do it by hand with a sanding block, others use a dual action sander. In this case, it was 1000 grit followed by 2000, then compound (I prefer 3M Finesse-it 2) and finally wax. These pictures are after the finishing compound and before wax.
