Interior colors - poly vs. non poly etc.

Given this photo, I am in need of some help

What is the difference between the Dark Green and Dark Green poly colours? I am thinking Poly = metallic, but even then, where do I find information on which part is metallic and which isnt?
Is paint covered in the assembly manual?

I believe the "poly" refers to polyurethane paint, usually a two part paint system. I assume the other number is either for an enamel, or lacquer. They would be the same color.

Sorry, no. In Oldsmospeak, "poly" was metallic. Look at the paint chips. Only the metallics are called "poly". Polyurethane paint wasn't used by Olds at that time. Paints were primarily lacquer, though there were some uses of enamel.

To the OP's question, you need the Product Information Manual (aka Assembly Manual) for your year and model. The first section included pages that tell you exactly what parts of the interior were painted with which specific paint formula for each interior trim code.

Here is an example of one of the several pages of interior paint colors and locations from the 1965 A-body PIM.

Good call. I looked at my assembly manual (1970) - group 0 has this info.

In fact, Page 37 uses the word metallic instead of poly

Page 43 lists which pieces get which colour

And just to follow up on this, "poly" was short for "polychromatic", which is what they called metallic paints in the 1960s.

Good info... I always knew "Poly" meant metallic but never knew why.

Good to know. Never heard that term before with regards to paint.
