Any suggestions for the "crinkle finish" on a 66 Toro dash?

 

I'm not really sure what you are referring to, but have you considered using a textured spray paint available from the hardware store? The only problem would be that you couldn't match the original texture and color exactly.

 

I was thinking that... the black finish around the speedo & gauges is what I was referring to. I know the finish will not be perfect but the color should be close I would think, especially with the angle and lack of lighting on that section of the dash.

 

Use Krylon Wrinkle finish black #3370. It's a tad bit more texture but I don't think most people will be able to tell the difference. The paint will stick to chrome very well, it just needs a week of cure time. If you go this route email me for directions on how to properly use this paint.

You can still purchase black crinkle at many auto paint supply stores...was used a lot back in the day for hearse roofs and such! Although, not much call for it anymore....
