what do i do with the bare metal parts on front suspension? spindles, rotors linkage & such. they have been sand blasted. clear coat? i have read por15 has a bare metal color but it is expensive.

 

eastwood sells economical spray paints that will work wonders on those parts.
See my front end job thread below and see how I did mine.
Some parts got bare-metal greay, others got chassis black.
All these paints are a bit costly but will hold up better than cheap stuff. You only want to do a ftront end job once. You did the sandblasting so that eliminates most needs for primers.

 

The best (and most expensive) finish is powdercoat. The second best is POR or the equivalents. Paint is a distant third.

The question you have to ask yourself is that after going through all the trouble and expense to disassemble the chassis and blast the parts, why cheap out at the last minute with a coating?

 

POR 15 or a product equally as effective is Chassis Saver. Virtually the same product as POR 15 but less expensive. Carefully rear and follow the directions. If you choose paint. I highly recommend a quality epoxy primer such as PPG DP40.as a ground coat. Which will get the price up to about the same as POR 15. The only problem with powder coat is. It is not a repairable procedure should it fail in time. POR 15 or an equivalent product is a less expensive repairable procedure.

 

I mixed por 15 and gray for mine 6 years later and no rust plus I put eastwood encapsulator silver on the grease fittings and no rust either.

 

used the por15 metal mask. interesting stuff to work with. need to stir it all the time. paint it on as thin as possible or it leaves black streaks. the color is really good though.

 

Have anyone ever tried the Eastwood rust Encapsulator or the Rust Bullet? How do they compare to POR15?
