71-72 cs two-tone cars

Does anyone know how two-tone cs cars came from the factory painted? If somebody have some pictures, that would be great.

I didn't know the Cutlass S was offered in 71 and 72 with 2 tone paint. If so, I imagine it would be split similar to the cars with a vinyl top. Are you looking to do an OE restoration on your car? If not, then just paint the car in whatever colors you like.

This is a 1970 with a factory painted top that I wish I had purchased locally in PA about 15 years ago. It came from Canada before that if anyone recognizes it.

RPO D99 two tone paint was factory available pretty much across the board well into the mid-70s (yes, even on the colonnade cars). And yes, the paint colors were separated by the same trim as was used on the vinyl top cars. You could also order RPO Y66, which was special order two tone paint, but those are much less common, and much more difficult to document.

I'm not familiar with the 71-72 cars but my 69 Cutlass Supreme Holliday Sedan the paint is split with the chrome and stainless rocker and wheel arch mouldings. Anything below them is painted with Silver (I believe it is the Argent Silver used for the grill & headlight assemblies.) and anything above the mouldings is painted in the body color. In my case Crimson Red. The Cutlass Supreme (And I believe they are the same as the Vista Cruiser.) had their own wheel mouldings that sit higher then the wheel openings unlike the 442 which wrap around into the wheel wells. Also my vinyl top is a halo design that is separated from the paint with chrome and stainless trim. It only wraps around my rear window with approximately one inch of the painted body color between it and the windshield and side door glass. One weird feature is it appears that the vinyl top looks like goes into a 2" square my rear doors. In reality there is a chrome moulding with a textured surface painted black to match my vinyl roof.

That's not a two-tone car. All Supremes came with the argent lower accent in the 68-69 model years. You could still order RPO D99 and get the roof painted a different color from the lower body - and the argent accent would still be there.
