1970 w30 gold stripe color-23197- G H

I have the code but does anyone know what color "name " this is..This is the gold that was used on 70 w cars for stripes...cannot find the color name and theres a post referring to a guy who actually called the PPg factory to get the name of it- and they are even having a hard time finding it....i guess the code itself does not do any good as far as being able to find the makeup of this color..

Need for a non concours deal- but i still want the correct 70 gold color

thx

The factory only referred to these colors by an initial. Refer to chart.

correct- according to what i have found they could be listed as G or H for the stripes as well as 23197...as listed i know this info!!! problem is no one in the PPg factory or local paint stores can cross the G stripe color or 23197 to a modern day paint code

had a paint store call the factory who deals in PPG.. and they said they do not know what those letters and or codes mean and that because it was lacquer paint there is nothing even listed in the database...and because of this they cant make me the paint

glad this is for a Vista and not a concours job or i would be screwed!!!

Did you have any success in getting a paint match ??? I'm in a similar position with my white & gold '70 W30 and most of the interior plastic & dash has been painted over in much lighter gold. After wiping thinners over the upper steel dash, the crash pad and the main & lower dash I've revealed the color that was also hidden underneath on the steering column in this photo. I'm yet to check the seat backs, console and other interior trim but if you happened to come up with a new formula for the color then I'd be keen to hear before I attempt to get my sample matched. Thanks.
