Rear hood louver

What's the correct finish for rear hood louver on 68 442. My car was missing hood when I bought it. The one I got is painted but have seen what looks like chrome ones in pictures.

The rear hood louvre is painted car colour, but the vertical piece that faces the windshield is flat black.
