Anybody have any luck taking one of these apart and detaching/reattaching the control cables from either end? Wanting to send my mirror off to the chrome shop but of course they want it taken apart. I'm guessing it's one of those things where the factory had special tools for installing those mirrors and they weren't designed to be taken apart. Can the cables be cut and re-joined somehow? Appearance wouldn't be an issue since the cables are inside the door. I can get to the single screw that holds the mirror assembly in place so that isn't the issue. It's how to deal with the cables without destroying the mirror. Or, if someone has a really nice unit they want to sell (69 LH remote with long cables), I'd be open to that option. Thanks!
