I have a 2.5” Pypes exhaust system which replaced my single stock exhaust and I love it. I was asked if I was going to put tips on it and I’m not sure what options would look right or if I should stick with how it is now. Who has tips on an aftermarket dual exhaust and can share a pic?
I have Silverline exhaust tips that were installed by the shop that did my exhaust. IMHO, they fit a classic car better than OE exhaust. The only thing more iconic is side pipes (shielded or non-shielded), but I didn't feel they would fit my car's image.
To that theme, it is hard to beat the '70s Trans Am dual turn downs per side.
I guess my Cutlass is in-between. Turned down but, more outward to the bumper. I bought it that way. Not a cheerleader for it but, don't dislike it. The Nova exhaust is turned down after the rear axle with chrome tips.
tgilligan, I am not a big supreme fan but your car looks fantastic. I wouldn't change a thing.
Those straight pipe tips remind me of my firebird formula.
X10 with what the other Eric said. I don't like to see it prominent unless its a 442 cutout bumper or any other OEM designed through the bumper or valance exhaust. C2-3 vettes early 70 GS with N10s etc... . I laugh at some of the Bubbas at car shows, not to mention the small ***** winnies with diesel trucks that put the 8" diameter cans at the exhaust tip. To each I guess. tgilligan not saying yours are bad at all.
This is tasteful, subtle...thou they arent tucked enough behind the rear wheel.

Is there a dual-walled trumpet tip out there that could fit in the stock bumper cutouts and still be tucked nice and close? Example:
New(er) Camaros come with tips similar to this, though it's a bit more bell-shaped than trumpet. My thought: I kinda like the "OEM+" look that a dual-walled, slash-cut trumpet could provide over the single-walled OEM/Pypes option (as an example). The tip in the pic above is 2.5" inlet, 4" outlet. With the bell shape of that one, I don't think it would tuck nicely into the bumper cut-outs, without sticking way out and looking ridiculous. What's the max outer diameter of the stock (or Pypes) tips?
Side note: I also agree what you guys have said...if no bumper cutouts, aim the outlet straight down so any dust on the road under the car poofs out when you give 'er a little rev

I put the pypes 2.5in olds tips on my summit exhaust and it looks great. You really have to look to find the pypes lettering. I will get pics and post later.
Appreciate all the feedback. I ended up putting straight tips with a beveled edge to align with the end of the bumper. Keeps it from sticking out too far and keeps the look I was going for.
