Question Carb Help

I posted this in the eighty-eight forum, but I don't really know where it goes. I need help!!

What am I missing guys?!
I am following the Haynes Rochester carb guide to rebuild my 2GV carb, and I can't get the accelerator pump off! I have taken off the clip, but the pump wont come out of the little bracket that it is in! The little right angle peice on the end of the pump just bumps into the other side of the bracket with out enough room to let the pump end clear the hole in the bracket. I hope this is making sense, because my camera is broken and I can't take a picture to help describe it. Please help!!!!

Thanks,
Chris

Carbs are way over my head. Give it time and someone who knows what they are talking about will see this and respond.

Im lost....do you have the top of the carb off and accel pump out?.....is so the clip on the pump assembly slipps off when the spring is compressed. The actual pump is the rubber cup and that is worked off the retaining tabs and a new rubber cup slipped on...

I had the top off the carb, but I couldn't get the pump assembly out of the bracket that holds it to the top of the carb. In any case, I just kept wiggling and pulling the thing and it finally came out. Hope I didn't mess anything up...I'm replacing the accel. pump assembly anyway, so I should be okay I think.
