I apologize for not providing any updates, I am doing body work to the omega right now, hoping to have it painted soon. I have officially burned rubber and driven the car down the road even if it was slightly illegal (no lights or hood). I decided to go with the original color, I think its a nice color you don't see often. I have been so busy with work, and the house, that I havent made as much progress as I would like. should be painted this summer though!

I will be able to post some pictures soon!

Its got a 72 olds 455 with everything new, kieth black 10.5 pistons, extreme energy comp cam, heads have been worked over and rebuilt, new oil pump, starter, alternator, water pump, performer intake, hei distributor, custom MSD wires, oil pan, flow tech headers, rack and pinion, th350, foose black legends 17x8 front 18x10 rears, new carpet that sucks, new racing seats with 5point harness, new rotors, calipers, pads, drums shoes, wheel bearings, 3" straight pipe to thrush welded mufflers. few odds n ends

I am running the factory gm non posi rear(10 bolt) was originally an a/c car so not sure of the ratio bought anoth clean non bondo drivers door and a clean original 73 nova hood not yet painted

I don't think the nova hood will work un less you are using a nova front clip I think the rear is a 308 perfect with all your torque

When I bought the car it already had a 73 nova front clip on it so I left it because they don't make the omega replacement fenders. I am running a rack and pinion setup so the gear box was removed to accommodate the headers without smashing them.

I thought so ,I have also a 74 ventura I want to do a rack so I can stuff a 455 in it .did you do a power rack or a manual rack ? I am looking for some feed back on the rack and pinion set ups to see how well they work .I am hoping the non power is not to hard to steer and is pretty tight. let me know if you can ? p.s. I need a set of 73-74 omega v8 moter mount ( BRACES )the ventura was a 6 cyl let me know if you have a set to sell ? thanks .

I think they still make the motor mounts . It's the pieces they bolt to that are going to be hard to find. Be careful everybody will try to sell you chevy stuff. Do you want the part #'s?
Also FYI Omega,ventura,Apollo,GTO, and sprint fenders are all the same acept for the holes for badges. 72-74. And a nova is the same if you have the ability to cut the front off and replace it with one of the makes I mentioned earlier.

I was looking for the brackets that is the 2 pcs that bolt to the frame .did not know if you had a parts car ?

Let me look, I found a place you can buy the brackets that bolt to the motor mounts. It is the same ones the factory used to put the 403 Oldsmobile in a Trans Am. As soon as I find the source I will post it.

Still alive, sending the omega out in the next few weeks to get painted, I dont know when I will get the car back, but I am getting a great deal on a professional paint job.

I think we have basically covered whats required to fit a big block in one of these bad boys, but I will admit I have a 403 sitting on the work bench that I am considering installing down the road.

I also have a 403 that has #6 heads with the bigger intake valves, holley dominator etc. I am thinking maybe the 403 will be just fine and put the 455 in my 69 Cutlass.

As much as I love a big block (anything) the 403 idea sounds cool. Id build it as a high RPM screamer with that 6 speed. Cool stuff.
However it gets done 455 or 403 I can't wait to ride in it.
Me and the Mrs. are overdue for an Ellensburg visit.

Hey - I know I am one of those "outsiders with a "Nova" - I have a 73 Nova that I am trying to put in a 403. I have the 78 Trans Am Brackets and The frame side rubber mounts for the TA - They make the engine sit too low.?? I also have the stock olds 350 brackets - they don't line up on my x-member. Anyone have pics of an olds in an omega?

I bought new motor mounts for my Omega they didn't fit. I wound up using the old ones. I had a spare set but I sold them. I think I have pic some where. I look this weekend.

Is the oil pan sitting on the crossmember?

i would love to see a pic - see if they are what I have or something different.

...And yes the oil pan is on the crossmember. The holes are not lining up they are about 1/2" to narrow. I was thinking about a 1/2" spacer between the block and the mount. i am wondering it Omega mount just happens to be about 1/" longer than the TA Mount. I am going to remove the TH400 and try just some engine placement tomorrow. I'll take pics.

I think there's pieces that the mounts bolt to and the omega is different. But uses the same holes .

I dont know if this is the same thing or not, but I fought with a similar problem for awhile with my car, turns out the Omegas with an oldsmobile engine had about a 3/4 spacer inbetween the block and driver side engine mount. The power steering bracket mounts inbetween the block and mount on the front, and its just a little 3/4 thick washer for the rear bolt.

Actually after I bought the car, I had to have nonhog send me the spacer

I think this is what you are fighting

Thoughts?

O.P. is not dead, just very busy with house and getting married. But its ok, my fiance was tired of me complaining about my car not being done and made me get it painted.

So on saturday I dropped the car off to get painted. Pictures to follow in 6-8 weeks!

Very excited for this.

I had to do the same thing with the 403 Trans Am mounts on my Olds 350 powered 94 Z71. I used big nuts, they would have been about 3/4". Cool project.
