Trying to get any information on the car possible and I'm wondering how to decode the tag.

Welcome! Someone will come along and help decode the tag. Until then, show some pictures of it. How did you come to own it?

Came across the car on facebook marketplace not long ago, I didn't even know what a starfire was until doing some research on it, but the more I learn the more I love it. It definitely needs work but it runs strong and is very solid.

it does have a tinted windshield, not sure about the seat belts though, but the mirror might be either because you can adjust the driver side mirrior from the inside or that it has one on the passenger side.

Nice find!!! Are you an Olds guy? Enjoy it!

Hopefully it still has a THM 400 that has a functioning switch pitch torque converter.

Premium fuel only, listen for pinging/detonation.

Original drivetrain for these is a 375hp 425, Turbo 400 with switch-pitch torque converter and probably 3.23 gearing. Yes these things will get up and boogie. They could also have a 4-speed in 1966, as well as a Strato-Bench front seat if you so desired.

The Toronado was overshadowing everything, but for those who still wanted a full-size performance car in 1966 the Starfire fit the bill nicely.

It definitely doesn't have premium in at the moment, but I'll be sure to refill it with premium, not 100% sure about the transmission yet as the brakes and motor/transmission mounts are bad, so it hasnt driven much.

They were about 10:1 compression ratio or better, advertised as 10.5, most had "Premium Fuel Only" on the air cleaner and/or on the gas cap in small letters.

Enjoy it, you found a very desirable Olds.

Correct, except that 5Y is deluxe front and back seatbelts.

Welcome aboard! Wow, you scored a beauty up there! Autumn Bronze is my favorite 1966 Olds color! I had a friend in Cleveland that owned a 442 in that color!

Has anyone figured out the Y at the top right of the data plate?

Wondered if it's shoulder harnesses but I thought the plate had a square punchout indicating the car had mounting anchors for those.

It only has lap belts, but they are retractable.
