Very cool to see the pics and story of this car unfold.

When my Dad passed away 20 years ago, I sold his '47 Indian, something I ended up regretting almost immediately afterwards. I've since had one like it built as a tribute to his old bike, but of course, it isn't his actual bike. Closest I can get. Funny thing is, about 2 years ago, I found out that the guy I sold it to disassembled it right after he bought it, and it remains a basket case to this day. And no, he wouldn't sell it back to me. Maybe someday...

Stay on him Scott!!! Took over 10 years of letters n phone calls to get this guy to sell the car back to us. It really came down to my father saying, 'Alright K, this is the last registered letter we send. If he doesn't respond or move on this car, We Are Gonna Make One!'
One of the coolest thing about this car, is not the car. Its my father's excitement! The hunt for the parts, talking to his old buddies who he traded parts w/ years ago, showing me how everything works. The plates he had read 'DR JET', n he has earned his Dr. title.
Even though we haven't test driven the car, It starts on its own power and drives from garage to garage. We have recently spent some money and built a concrete slab and canvas garage. Keep her safe through the winter.

I can def. appreciate your and your Dad's excitement. I'm thinking too that if the guy who had the car all this time never titled it in his name, then no sales tax need be paid to DMV, haw haw! Hmmm...maybe my Dad's old Indian is still titled in HIS name?

Do you have the F85 Olds factory service manual, and the Jetfire supplement manual? The latter is about 50 pages with color pictures of the turbo system.

62 Supplement manual

Run,
I have a 63 service manual that has the Jetfire info in it. Do you have the 62 manual with the 50 pages with color pictures of the turbo system? Is it for sale?

Did you do the turbo yourself or have someone rebuild it for you? I have done a number of turbos myself and that one looks labour intensive!!

I just thought I would post a photo of the Oldsmobile Turbo Rocket Fluid. You need this to make the whole thing work correctly.

I am still in need of any mint trim parts. Any leads will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken

1963 Jetfire Re-restoration

Not made too much progress but still finding parts. WTony patched the floor and welded the 4-speed hump in. Dad and I converted the car from auto and bolted the hump in 1982. WTony also installed a new rocker panel. Still more to go but we are closer. Back to working on the W30. I also found a photo of my dad guiding the 215 with the 4 speed trans attached.

Is there a reason your bumping this thread without updating it? Seems kind of pointless.

1963 Jetfire

Erik,
Thanks for the post!! I have ads running on all the Olds sites looking for parts.
Back in the 1980's parts were very rare but now! Wow! Walked (4) Carlisle, Pa; (2) Hershey,Pa; and (4) Englishtown’s and not a part to be had. I have only found 1 NOS die cast part! Looks like I may have to pay a chrome plater to get the rest done!!
Be well,
Ken

It was a great little car. The first thing I did to it was get a c.b. radio (This was the early 80's) and a set of keystone mag wheels with the raised white letter tires. The back tires were the big fat wide ones. Of course there was also the Sparkomatic FM converter for the tunes....Man...My Dad hated that car

Along came Sandy! Delay of game!!

Been working on the 69 W30 project this summer. Just a little late was going to put the 63 Jetfire in the garage when Sandy came along. We are way better off than some but this is a real bummer. Dent in the roof at the windshield. Not sure how bad but bent the frame. I will post more tonight.

More Sandy photos!

We are about 1 mile from the beach. Still no power and it looks like another week. Damage does not look too bad but a bad location.

Wow, luck was on the car's side! As was asked, does insurance cover?
We had a tornado in our area a few years back, and the associated hail.Any cars that were damaged were covered under the comprehensive part of my property insurance........

OK! Sandy is gone!!!
My Insurance Co totaled the car. I was able to keep the car by buying it back. I was happy with the settlement from Hagerty and they were very nice to work with! WTony had some time so the car is in the body shop. The roof is repaired and stripped, and primed. I have a few photos to post more to come.
