700r4 kit for my 63 starfire

Has anyone out there put a 700r4 transmission in a 1963 olds starfire. Thinking of doing this thru monster transmission is this difficult

Check this thread out, this guy did a lot cool things to his 63. He converted to a turbo 400 but some of the work may apply to a 700r4.

I am currently trying to ferret out this same swap and its consequences. I think this swap makes sense for me because my tranny has problems. I ad a long talk with Tony in Ohio (330-544-4466) (can't remember the shop name but he is into oldsmobiles and racing oldsmobiles really big) about the swap. He will modify the transmission with an adaptor to fit the 394. possibly a bit pricey. He wants $3800 for the complete tranny modified and ready to install except the drive shaft yoke will have to be changed. He wants an additional $500 to upgrade the weaknesses in this transmission (clutches, etc.). He said the cross member needs to be notched and it will fit fine w/o modifying the tunnel. What I don't know is how this will effect economy. Does anybody out there know? He thinks the engine RPM's will run in the lower 2,000s which should have a positive effect on economy. I realize you posted some months ago and may have made a decisionalready. If so, let me know what you know.
