upper ball joint dust boot replacement

Hi all. I have a 1966 F85 with about 15,000 miles on a new front end. I haven't driven the car much, so it was about 20 years ago, when it was replaced. The front end is solid, but the dust boots are badly cracked. Does anyone know how big a deal it is to just replace the dust boots on the upper ball joints? I don't need to grind anything off, as they are bolted on the top, but does the whole joint have to be taken off, to just replace the boot? Thanks.

You would just need support the car on the lower control arms, knock the steering knuckle apart for the upper ball joint, remove the 4 bolts and the boot retainer, and reassemble with new boot.
