Trip odometer reset button not resetting

I've noticed when I push the reset it doesn't reset it to zero, and it doesn't seem to move it at all. Both odometers work fine as far as counting miles though, they go forward smoothly with no noises. Any ideas on if this is fixable or what's wrong with it? I couldn't find anything in the service manual about repairing it.

Are you turning it while pushing or just pushing? Pretty sure it needs to be pushed and held in, then turned to move the numbers on the barrel. Reset it only when the car is fully stopped, resetting it in motion can make the aged, brittle gears unhappy.

Hopefully it isn't broken. If so, you'd have to remove the entire speedometer/odometer assembly and get it rebuilt. 🤞

I will try that this weekend when I'm able to do some other work on it.

Turns out it was user error. I didn't fully realize until after I read Sugar Bear's post that you have to turn it back. I'm used to the 80's-early 90's trip odometers that reset for you instead of you having to turn it. Seems it's still in good working order. Thanks.

Understood. Over the years they made various types/styles not only among the various GM divisions but w/in the same product lines and models - just to Pi$$ us off, I believe.
