Speedometer Rebuild Help

My Speedometer in my 1968 Cutlass S is noisy at the low end and once up to speed bounces all over the place, I'm assuming I need a new bushing and hence need to rebuild my speedometer.
Is this hard to do? I am pretty good with my hands and was a mechanic for 20yrs.
If this is difficult and should be left to someone who specializes then does anyone know of a great place to have it rebuilt at a fair price?

Thanks Todd

From: from Wisc, then Texas, then Kansas, now back to Texas,
it's probabley just 'dry' . that old grease dries pretty hard. try a 'shot' of WD40 into the cable hole in back of the gage. You may have to remove the gage, and with a drill, and something to fit the square hole in the gage, spin it slowly (CCW, I think ) watch the needle. if spraying WD don't help. then you may have take the gage apart to get to the 'speed cup'. you'll know it when you see it, it has a small magnet in it, then the grease will be pretty hard. Some times you have to 'unbend' the folded edge around the glass to get it apart. Slowly, but it can be done. May also could be a dry cable, then, you would pull the cable out , lub it and re-install

If it needs rebuilding i have used Redline Gauge and Clock repair previously on my Vette, he did a very nice job. Not sure but im sure he probably does Olds too. Hes in Humboldt, Tennessee. That was 10 years ago all gauges still work great!

Check D&M Restoration in Greenville, South Carolina, as well -- I had good luck with them about 3 years ago

Cable is lubed and brand new so its definitely the gauge. I read not to use WD on the speedo? They says it is to thin and will wash away the grease that is supposed to stay in the speedo head?
I will try looking up redline and D&M, thank you. If I have to pull the speedo out I want to rebuild it and never have to worry about it again...or at least for a very long time.
