1971 Cutlass 442 Roof trim

Whomever owned my car before me painted the chromed roof trim black took some solvent and took paint off a small section of it and it looks badly scarred and in need of replacing my question is how do I remove and replace this trim ?

Cars at the body shop getting quarters hung but as a reference its the roof trim that runs above the drivers and passengers windows from the corner post to the rear upper quarter .

.

I did see that but just found a video on the trim I'm referring to is the lip of the roof skin and its welded in the guy who owned this car before me really did a number on this car its a real task getting it back to cruiser quality.

Just an update I never said the trim was cut off it was simply painted black to match the color of the car if it is simply steel and not a polished chrome it should clean up with solvent I'm hoping.

The originals were stainless steel. There's a chance they may have scuffed them to get the paint to stick in which case you'll need some new ones.
Maybe with some luck you find a mint set under the paint.

As far as removing the trick was to get an old school beer can opener and some heavy duty painters tape. Tape up the chrome and the opener. Then use the opener to gently pry the trim off.
The "tab" goes on the bottom of the trim piece and you gently pry upwards. Start from one end and work towards the other. Definitely take your time though.
