Removing A/C and heater?

Considering removing the A/C and heater from 68 Cutlass Supreme. It is not functioning and is not hooked up. I would like to clear up the engine bay a bit. Is removal a big job? I am going to be ordering a firewall cover if I decide to go for it.

As an alternative to removing all climate control, check out acdelete.com for the cover to clean up the firewall. Their units will convert your system from A/C to heater only without having to weld in several plates (or an entire non-A/C car firewall) to cover up the holes used for A/C.

Might be a preferred way to go instead of removing everything.

Mongoose has a good point. There are a few aftermarket suppliers that make non-AC air plenums for people removing the AC from their car. The hardest part of removing the AC from your car is taking the passenger's side fender well out to remove/replace the air plenum.
