Rear seat speakers
#3
They have a rear seat speaker (one forward on the dash, one behind the rear seat on the passenger side) but they aren't very effective. I have an AM-FM non-stereo factory radio in my '68 4-4-2 convertible and when you put the top down you cannot hear the rear speaker at all. Since it is a non-stereo radio, I can still get full sound out of the front speaker. My '69 4-4-2 convertible has an AM-FM stereo factory radio which is nice when the top is up but, when it's down, you lose have of the sound. I much prefer the AM-FM non-stereo radio of that era so you can at least get full sound out of the front speaker when the top is down.
Having said that, the sound that comes out of these old radios just doesn't compare with what you can get today. But, for me, I prefer the "purity" of the old radio.
