Make sure that Highway Patrol plate number isn't currently assigned to a patrol vehicle!😛

Good one. I did check it out before I purchased it years ago. A friend of mine (HP Patrolman) ran it. He himself wasn't even aware of the NC YOM plate. You have to carry the normally registered plate with you at all times in the vehicle and I kept a copy of the NC Legislative Statute downloaded from DMV for LEOs unfamiliar with the statute. Dollars-to-donuts most LEOs aren't going to pull you over for a tag infraction since there are bigger fish (supposedly).

Colorado just changed the law as of January 1st 2023. You can't register old plates anymore. If you already have them before that date you can keep them but you can no longer register them on your car. Sucks.

Right? I don't get why. Even the worker at the DMV that I was talking to wasn't happy. Said he has a 67-68-69 Camaro's with sequential plates for all three years. Now he can no longer use them because he waited too long to register them.

That's when you look at the legislative record, unearth who introduced the legislation and who voted to pass it, and start deluging their offices with phone calls, emails, letters and whatever other communications you can devise.

In other words let them know the error of their ways. Then mobilize car people to vote the miscreants out. One thing drives these people- remaining in office. Threaten that and you better believe they'll come around.
