Hello. 1967 cutlass convertible

Hello this is my first post I joined to sure my build with my fellow enthusiast. I found.a 1967 cutlass convertible in what i feel was good condition all complete with what appears to be original motor and trans. I tore motor down and found that 2 cyli.ders were rusted due to water leaking in motor so since got a 454 with turbo 350 that I will be dropping in. Thats were I am at now and will be making constant updates until done. If anyone has some parts to help me for sale or need my old unused parts an email would be appreciated

I can certainly understand trying to "use what you have" but if the car is in "good" shape, why make it into a MORPHIDITE ?

Why not simply get rid of the "cookie cutter" 454 and use that money to increase the value and correctness of your vehicle?

If you go the BBC way, be prepared for quite a bit of modifications and unneeded expense.

Not to mention BOOO"S all the way around from any Olds Enthusiast !

In any case, good luck.

Dave

Here is a thread showing the commotion when a Chevy engine is swapped into an Olds!

I moved your post over to the non-olds powered as not to upset some.

Welcome to the site, I have a 454/T400 in mine. It was an easy swap and I did it for the same reason you are. Just get some frame brackets for a 67 Chevelle and everything basically bolts in. Electrical will require the starter wiring to be moved and possibly your alternator wiring rerouted. I would suggest a mini starter if your running headers. You'll have to set up your detent cable for passing gear.

If you have any questions feel free to ask away.

I know it is going to rub some the wrong way.but it was a no brainrr for me either pay for rebuild or put in a free good running 454. I have a.few customers lining up.to give me 15000 when finished painting so had to.go.that way. But could.be.worse could of been a ford.motor

Even I would have to draw the line somewhere.

By the way which water pump are you using, long or short? Mine was the long one and it would of been easier with the short setup. It's not something easily changed as all the accy brackets and pulleys would need to be changed also.

The only other thing of concern is intake manifold and carb for hood clearance. You can't use a hi rise, I stuck with a Performer intake and a Holley 3310. If you use an Edelbrock carb then your aircleaner options are limited also.

I used this one:

You might want to check the bolt up pattern on that 454/350 combo. I don't believe the 454 will bolt to a BOP TH350

I assumed he meant a Chevy T350. Since the 67 did not come with one.

Just checking Eric, sometimes not everyone knows there's a difference. Also I don't know why a TH350 when a TH400 would probably be a better choice. Just my opinion.

A T350 will swap without having to move the xmember or change the drive shaft. Under most conditions, probably last a long time.

Wouldn't it have to be built stronger though to take the torque?
