1977 Olds 98 Regency Coupe Power Antenna

Anyone have a part number for the power antenna and the interchange between other GMs?

I would imagine they interchange.

I used this antenna to replace the manual whip that was on my 96 98 when I bought it. It works well.

Amazon Amazon

This is the same part that you're going to get at any auto parts store. If you want an OE power antenna you're going to have to search Ebay or salvage yards.

I have this antenna on my '78 Toronado. It looks great, works great, is brand new, and no one would ever know the difference.

Other than maybe drilling an extra hole or two on the inner fender somewhere for the mounting bracket, none. These power antennas are all the same basic shape and size.

Jaunty, was the included coax cable long enough to reach the radio in your Toronado? I spliced the included coax cable into the existing coax cable in my car because I didn't want to bother with removing the seats.

I don't recall any cable-length issues, but my setup, with the antenna in the passenger side fender and the radio in the middle of the dash, is pretty standard.

Where is your antenna that you have to remove seats to get at the cable? Mine just runs under the dash over to the right side of the car.

The antenna in my 96 98 is in the driver's rear fender. The OE antenna cable exits underneath the dash and runs under the carpet and through the bulkhead between the rear seats and the trunk. I could have used the OE cable as a lure and tried to fish the new cable through, but I think it would have been too short anyways.

I got a NOS power antenna from a guy in PA. The antenna tube w/mast and motor are the same but I got one for a Caprice. I have to remove the mast bracket by carefully removing the spot weld on the tube. Replace it with the Olds bracket and I got the same assembly. Then install.

The guy is 77 but fixed these in the day, he determined the sub pieces you could buy were the same but the final assembly was different except for the bracket. I also conformed this with a copy of his Delco documentation on the part numbers.

Glad you found what you needed. Provide a pic once it's installed.

Radio removed AM FM slide bar replaced so radio back like new. There were 3 coins inside the radio jamming up the buttons and causing the other slide bar to break. I found some NOS slide bars for a 1977 radio. Antenna next.

Excellent!

How do coins get inside a radio? I guess we'll never know.

Well found some wires that were damaged under the driver's seat. They had been scuffed up some causing a short and a blown fuse. Fixed it up and got my power back to the power seat, cigarette lighter and guess what else?

The power antenna went down and then went up and down from the radio!!!

So I got an extra antenna for no reason but I might need it someday. If not it will be sold and not cheap since they are not making any more.

This issue is once I found the antenna did not want to wait until they were all gone. So you buy it when you see it. It is not spark plugs. But not too bad cost me $175.00 but try to find the antenna.
