Welcome aboard John. Which model is it. The trim suggests base. Is the interior Sienna? The bumperettes on the front are exactly where they should be for early 71 production. They were later moved closer inboard to the center of the bumper to be more effective.

 

I want to say the car is a basic sport coupe, my dad had been storing it for me for the last 14 years while I have been running around the world courtesy of the AF. Just recently pulled it out of storage after he passed away. It is a non AC car which is normal since it is a Calf car, I will have to fix that once it comes out to Texas in Apr. I have the AC controls installed but the engine block is a problem, I think the car was put together with some older components that were left over from previous years, the block codes are correct but many 71 parts dont the block such as water pumps and alternator brackets, we believe those came from 70 left over stock. Probably going to buy a Chevy Crate engine and tranny with AC already on them and call it a day, upgrade to fuel injection.

 

Welcome to Classic Olds! Your car certainly looks like it's been in storage for 14 years. You are definitely going to need air conditioning if you plan to drive it in Texas. When I moved from Michigan to Houston in 1985, my '71 Cutlass convertible didn't have AC. I promptly bought a 1-owner '72 Cutlass Supreme hardtop with working AC and sold the convertible. It was murderous driving to job interviews in the August heat. I'm sure I didn't get several of the jobs because I looked wilted by the time I arrived for the interview.

If you go with a Ch@vy crate what will you do with the original Olds engine? Is it a 350 or 455?

When I bought the car it was bar bones 350 2BBL single exhaust. In 94 I put a mild CAM in new lifters, 4BBL and Edlebrock 650 3 in exhaust, has around 105,000 miles on it. When I do change it out I may keep the block just so I have it, have not really decided yet

 

The cost to go to an SBC is higher than a quality rebuild of your current engine because you have to consider a transmission also. I would do some research and see which way benefits you the most.

 

Welcome, That is basically how my car started out. Though I didn't go quite so far as your mods, or maybe I did. Looks like my car but better.

Paint code 67 I believe? Sienna. Mine has the pearl interior.
