new and dumb

Hey folks
I just bought a 72 olds delta 88 rag top. I'm a 55 year old tech that has had my own shop for a while. I'm searching the web for parts, but can't seem to find much. I need a left window regulator. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Any help would be great.

You'll find out pretty fast that it's slim pickins for these models.

"Old car" junk yards are an excellent source of these parts, if you have one near you.

eBay can sometimes pay off, but not reliably.

Your best bet is to post a want ad in this forum, and see what comes up. We've got a few guys with stuff socked away who sell when the need arises.
You should specify power or manual, and front or rear.

Welcome to Classic Olds!

thanks eric. I'm finding out this car is not easy to find find parts for. I will post in the want ads. And i should have known better than to not have said front or rear.

South of Portland, at the shore.

If you're in Maine, go see Vince Ayotte at Ayotte's in Oxford - they've got 'em.

Fusicks, Kanter and Rock Auto are good places to get parts for our cars. There are some things that aren't made though.

Thanks for the help. And I'm in need of the front left power window regulator. Someone robbed the car of it. Thank god the other three are still there.

Ayotte's had a white '72 convert. with one and a brown '73 4-door as well.
Also a number of other B-bodies from that year range that didn't stick in my mind.

I ran into the former owner yesterday and asked him about the regulator. he told me his brother took it out to replace the lift motor. He thought it might still be in his garage somewhere. He looked and found it. I am happy to say it looks to be in very good shape. I will be putting it back in today as I already have the lift motor.

That is cool you were able to get the power window regulator.

I feel very fortunate and I'm happy to say that all windows go up and down once again. Now on to rebuild the 2 Jet next. It's in bad need of new gaskets, as it is leaking, and I don't need a fire. Not to mention it's bound to run a little smoother without the air sucking.
So I guess you now know that I've only got the 350 in it.

My dad had a 69 Delta 88 that came with the 2 jet and a 455. I didn't know they start putting the 350 into the Delta 88s in 72.

More 350s in Deltas in '71 to '75 than 455s, I believe, and many of them 2bbls.

I guess they saved the 455 for the 98s.
