Hi, looking forward to looking through this site! Im working on my 1972 Olds Cutlass Supreme, that Ive had since 1991. Currently, Ive discovered that the heat / vent/ air vaccuum system is completely disconnected by a previous owner, but still present under the dash. The a/c is removed, but I bet hooking these vaccuum lines back up, will get at least something working again! What do you think? Im gonna look up a diagram......

Hey! Great to have you as a part of the group. I'm a newbie as well. During the short time I've been a part of this site I have learn so much about my car and have had help acquiring parts I thought I would never be able to locate. I believe you've come to the right place. Can't wait to see pictures of your ride. Good luck with the heat and A/C.

Since I posted here, Ive been under the dash for 8 hrs or so. My heater fan has always been connected to a toggle switch. Now that I know something 22 years later, all I wanted to do was connect the wiring back where it is supposed to be, on the back of the original switch. Which I did, & it works ok, but I have to figure out the speed legs and such....
Not to totally bore you all, but the real story is turning out to be the 10 different vacuum hoses running all under the dash. They are all connected to the back of the control, but where they go after that is killing me!
Its a good question to ask "why" was it disconnected in the first place. I havent a clue. I know when A/C dosent work, folk disconnect that, but what would be the reason for yanking all the vacuum stuff?
So, I ate too many carbs, and cant stop talking.... The electrical under the dash is a mess too! Everything works, but it looks like a monkey got under there with electrical tape & get this, WIRE NUTS! I spent 1/2 a day cleaning it all up. Ive got severalconnectors that have no home, Im assuming that they go to other model cars, or to other options that my car dosent have. Tomorrow Im gonna post the pics, and you all can have a laugh.
But, if any one has some more input, Im gonna need it

Welcome...I have learned a ton of imfo on this site also. My 70 CS and my 72 CS , both had a ton of excess wiring that was added.....
A lot was also coroded, frayed and some had started to fry! One of the first things I do when I buy a car is to make sure the wiring is correct!....wiring schematics that are lamented are helpful also....hang it up and you can refer to it as needed. As was mentioned^^^^ pics are always welcome!

I guess all the way back in '91, When I bought the car from "Wally's Used Cars" in Phoenix, Az, and I saw a love poem written in spanish, in a ball point pen, on the white vinyl center arm rest, THAT should have been my first clue - lol

Took her out on a run today......
Made sure all the electrical "cleaning up" is OK, and the heater works great on the original switch! Imagine that! Still have the fan "speed" issues, though...)
Jeez, one issue after another.... big vibration at 60-65mph, goes away after letting off throttle. Hmmm, another Saturday, perhaps.
