Newest Adventure

Hi guys, new to tthe site and the Olds car craft in general.. After several years of doing grunt work on my buddies 72' Olds Cutlass Supreme, I decided to venture out and find my own.

I welcomed a new 72' Cutlass 442 into my life in March. Here are some specs on it:

New interior, black and blue crushed velour interior, new vinyl top, new/rebuilt engine 455 w-30. 323 posi rear end, dual exhaust, disc brakes, 350 turbo transmission.

Exterior needs some minor body work, couple small spots back by the trunk by the wheel well. Car also needs a solid paint job.

Replaced all belts and hoses, new battery, thermostat, clutch fan to name a few. Having an issue with overheating after driving about 20 minutes- gonna make good use of the search before I start asking too many questions.

-bought and housed in the desert heat, Phoenix, AZ

Just noticed Miguel, you have grills from a 71 on the car. They look fine. You planning to change over to 72 grills or keep it the way it is?

Welcome!
Olds have a tendancy to overheat if the timing is incorrect, carb isn't adjusted right, no spring in the lower hose, restricted radiator, and many more!
Try premium gas, if you haven't, and if a replacement carb, may need re-jetting.
Good start - just gotta 'massage' it a little!
