Just saying hi. I'm just beginning a resto job on my (was grandpa's) 1978 Holiday 88 with a 403ci. Looks like all the bells and whistles even a moonroof. It's very clean. But it did sit in the sun for a while and needs paint real bad. It has 91k miles on it. I'm pulling the motor and building up the block and looks like it will be about 450hp. It should end up being a sleeper. I'm excited. Any words of encouragement would be great. I'm hoping to get it back to almost showroom.
Welcome , your car has bucket seats / nice ! i would like bucket seats like that in my Olds . Your spoked wheel covers , my car had the same wheel covers on the car , my car had been in storage for a long time, i had a lot of trouble getting the locking wheel covers off my car . So before a road trip make sure you can get them off ! Do you have the Key for the wheel covers ?

I actually read that earlier today. I decided a body off restoration. As I'm digging into this, I'm saying "Damn this thing looks nice". I basically have nothing invested because it was my grandfather's.
Great car. It'll definitely be a nice cruiser when done. I had one just like it that I sold back in January of this year. It was the same exterior combo with the blue and light blue vinyl top, but mine had light blue cloth seats. I had the 403 V8 along with the optional 3.23 gears but no AC. Wasn't ordered with it.
You'll find that the car will just float down the road with a ride that only a full-sized model can give you. One upgrade that I might suggest would be to add a rear sway bar for better handling. It will definitely make a difference. I got the bar, brackets, hardware, and lower control arms from a wrecked 1996 Impala SS and installation was quick and easy. Good luck with the car.
I’m glad you are getting it back up and running. The car I learned how to drive in was a 2door 1977 Chevy caprice with 350 sbc and 4 barrel quadrajet. It was red with a white vinyl top. Your car reminds me of that car(they had roughly the same body). Wish I still had it, but glad you have yours!
Thank you for the comments. It's encouraging. Today finished tearing down the motor. Crank looks brand new. Everything mic'ed perfecrI will check the bore tomorrow. I hope it's just as nice.
It was originally owned by a old lady that live in Florida in the winter. My grandfather bought it from her. I don't think it was abused at all.
I will try to post the progress of this project with pics if that's ok
