I can't be more excited to own this car since I was a junior in high school. I'm still try to find out how many of this particular model were made.

Welcome! What a beautiful car! I also bought my 72 as a junior in high school in 1985. I’ll go ahead and say that most who view your thread will want to see some additional
pics and maybe even hear a bit of your story. I’m new to the site as well (joined and first posted on 8/6). I’ve already been helped with some things I needed input on and everyone has been very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

What year did you buy it and what kind of condition was it in? It’s obvious it’s in beautiful condition now, looking at the photo. Was it originally a four speed car? That’s probably pretty rare, if so.

If you can share all but the last six of your vin and a picture of the plate on the left side of the cowl just below the windshield, there will be a lot of guys on here that can tell exactly how the car was originally equipped, color, engine, etc if you’re interested in knowing.

Welcome, that info will not tell quite everything , it will not tell you if originally equipped as a 4 speed, but the numbers / VIN on the original trans will help as will dealer paperwork or a Window Sticker. Love the color combo!

Pretty sure I've seen this 72 for sale three times by three different owners in the past year plus. Does this car have buckets and no console? Welcome to CO. Enjoy your beautiful Supreme and have fun mastering the 2/3 shift!

11,571 Cutlass Supreme Convertibles built in the 1972 model year. There is no breakdown of how many came with four speeds.

What's to "master"? The whole point of the Hurst Competition Plus shifter is that it is spring-loaded to the 3-4 gate. From second simply push forward and to slightly to the right and the shifter pops right into third.

On the “2/3” he was talking about making the shift from 2nd to 3rd, probably in a hard acceleration/ quick shift scenario.

This is not my first Rodeo. My friend had a 66 GTO, beautiful car with the 400ci hurst on the floor back in the late 70's early 80's just a powerful car to drive. This car has the rocket 350 4 barrel and I'm a teenager again who will be 65 at the end of the month.

I’ve found that most everyone here just enjoys seeing what else is out there regardless of condition. I imagine for those that can’t swing a full-blown restoration, like me, there are always some bugs (mine has plenty). It gives them character and makes us feel more at ease about taking them out on the road.

How about the VIN number (all but last six of you don’t want to show the whole number). And when did you buy it? I thought you reference in high school but I may have misread.

This has to be it. There are dealers spattered all over the title. All I can say is this, I paid a tad bit more than the worth. Seriously. But she is strong and zippy. Heads are turning everywhere I go. I'm loving this car.

Yes, that is the same car. Just do not see many 4 speed convertible 72's around, so it stuck in my mind. Looks like it finally found a good home. Have fun.

There is nothing like finding something you are willing to pay too much for, especially if it takes off years! As my user name indicates, I’ve owned mine twice. $1500 in 1985, and, um, more in 2003 (but still a bargain compared to today’s prices). I had to get it back.

I fell in love with these cars in the 70's while I was in high-school. 3J67K2M I acquired it 2 days ago. I have been searching for this type of car for a very long time.

From a book I have, 3 =Olds of course, J = Cutlass Supreme, 67 = convertible, K = 350 with 4 barrel carb 180 horsepower, 2= 1972, M = built in Lansing, Michigan.

Correct. The "K" engine code is specifically the 350 4bbl single exhaust motor.

Thanks for that! I did see the single exhaust notation but forgot to mention it.

I had a 2006 Dodge Charger 5.7 hemi with 360 horses.I owned it for 17 years with 200,000 miles, I loved that car. This 350 stick snaps my head back with pure enjoyment. I feel more than 180.

A friend of mine had a 72 442 with a 350 and 4 speed. It always felt strong to me. I know it’s not like the 1970 models but it was a nice setup.

I know. I have been searching high and Low. An Olds convertible with 4 on the floor. The Hurst shifter was a bonus

My parents bought this same car new in 1971 when the 72's came out. Viking Blue, black interior with a black top but it was an automatic with a bench seat. Could not drive the car over 65 mph as the front end shook horribly. They took it back multple times to have the tires balanced, front end inspected, etc. Never solved the problem ! Some guy left a note on the windshield in 1975 wanting to buy the car and my dad sold it for $3,000.00.
