59 fiesta wagon with 65 model 425

Hey guys I’m new here so I’m not to sure how this works but I have a 59 Fiesta wagon with a 65 model 425 in it. I have ordered a Edelbrock performer intake and a 750 Holley vacuum secondary and electric choke. I’m wanting to convert it to dual exhaust with a good deep sound but can’t find headers anywhere. Any recommendations?

You won't find headers for it. Nobody ever made any. You can fab your own headers for it

Welcome to the forum, I love the old station wagons, very cool car, post some photos of your car and project, we all will be waiting to see them.

On the electric choke Joe P. has a detailed wiring instructions and parts needed to install it correctly, search this forum for "electric choke wiring" Joe P. has it on a "sticky note", February 3rd 2020.

Welcome to the site, post some pictures when you get a chance. As mentioned above, you're on your own with the headers.

That must have been quite a undertaking- putting that engine in that car! I'll bet it's a great cruiser. Welcome!!

These cars are not popular to restore or hot rod. You'll be hard pressed to find headers for a stock first gen Olds motor, let alone a swap that virtually no one performs. Either live with stock manifolds or build your own custom headers.

Does anyone have any recommendations on dual exhaust manifolds that I could make work?

Or they have SS tube manifolds as well, just check their website. Neat car, can’t say i’ve ever seen that model before.

I am assuming the manifolds you nave are the ones where there is a cross over pipe from drivers side to the passenger side. What Olds did when installing duels was to just block off the the cross over port in the passenger side manifold. There were no special manifolds for dual exhaust.

That is not correct for the 1965-70 full size cars. The location of the steering box on those cars required a special driver side manifold for dual exhaust that routes the pipe up and over the steering box. The single exhaust manifold is a center dump.

Post photos of the steering box and linkage location. Do you need a center dump or rear dump manifold? I'm not really familiar with the 1959 cars.

Oh lord…that steering box is SO far back!
Most cars have the box way out in front of the engine.

Youre probably going to have to live with the log style manifold Joe showed.
But with a decent dual exhaust and nice mufflers you’ll have a nice little rumble.

Cool car BTW!!!

Rear steer is a "feature" of the 1970-older Olds full size cars. That's why the factory designed those manifolds specifically to clear the steering box.

So I’ve been talking to a local exhaust shop in town where I live. He is going to block off the crossover on my passenger side manifold and run duals for me or also talked about doing single exhaust but sizing up to 2.5 inch with a nice muffler. Either way I’ve got to fix an exhaust leak on the passenger side manifold. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated. I think it is leaking around the gasket and also around the crossover.

You can have an exhaust shop block off the cross- over port in your passenger's side exhaust manifold, or you can take it to a welding shop and have the cross-over port welded in permanently. While cast iron is difficult to weld, a good welding shop shouldn't have any difficulty in tackling that job for you. My father; Oldsguy, had cast iron Oldsmobile exhaust manifolds modified that way for a 69 Delta 88 he owned years ago.

You might also be able to have 2 exhaust pipes run down the passenger's side of the car if you can't find a rear dump driver's side exhaust manifold.

Welcome to CO. What a great car! The engine sounds good too.

If it will help with your choice of exhaust...

A 2 1/2" single pipe gives the same back pressure as 2" dual pipes.

You can run single exhaust back to a dual outlet muffler, then dual it out from there. That is what I did on my '65 f85 Deluxe, and it's the best sounding "duals" I've ever had. I swear, this exhaust actually gave it a (at least a butt dyno) performance improvement.

It's a scientifically proven fact that ANY improvements done to your classic car will result in better performance on the butt dyno.

True dat!
If it sounds faster, the butt dyno needle moves accordingly.
