Hey Everyone - haven't been here in a while and wanted to say hello. I am in the Dallas Texas area.
I've had my dad's 1965 F85 in my garage for a long time - just sitting and waiting. I'm finally going to get started on a restoration. I currently have the carb at a place to get rebuilt (unless I find a cheaper rebuilt one that will work - but will probably bite the bullet and and stick with the original one for now). Once I get that back I will work toward getting it started.
Anyway - hoping to get a lot of good info here.

The only real rot I know of is the trunk pan - pretty sure that will have to be replaced, a bit of rust. Haven't looked under the carpet inside yet.
My dad bought this car brand new in 1965. He and my uncle redid the engine in the 70s. They were (obviously) going to do the body (hence the missing molding that has since been lost). I've put off doing something with it for way to long.

 

What's the plan for it?

 

Car looks pretty straight and is a special car since your dad bought it new. I love that body style. You can make an awesome car out of that.

 

I think for now just to get it back to "normal" or stock I guess. Not sure about the molding, may just leave it off (since I don't have it anyway). My son suddenly showed some interest in working on the car so hopefully we will work on it together.
Gonna be a lot of work - body, interior, brakes, etc.......

 

Yeah I always liked it. I have memories of riding in it with Dad hot-rodding around

Welcome here. There are quite a few of us in the DFW area. Nice project with a good history and more to build on with your son.

 

Looks like good bones; minimal rust showing! You shall find plenty of help here if you just ask for it. The "major builds & projects" section has a lot of good info as well. Good luck with your project!
