Forum Newbie with a 72 Cutlass Ragtop

Greetings All,
Newbie to the forum and a veteran to Oldsmobile and the Air Force. Glad to find this site and dive into the Oldsmobile world again.
Well, since I retired, my financial guys said I should "diversify my investments". So, I took his advice and found a survivor 72 Cutlass ragtop with a recent top and sweet, factory paint job.
It's a 'driver' that spent the winters in the garage since 1979. Being the current caretaker, I've been going through it and giving it some TLC.

The interior and under the hood has that patina that is just enough to feel like a 50 year old car that was cared for. Underneath is clean and solid. It's got new stainless dual exhaust that sounds fantastic without being obnoxious. It's a 350 4bbl Quadra-Jet, automatic, so it's a cruiser. I see Cruise-Ins and Cars and Coffees in my future!
Anyway, I'm excited about finding this site and searching for OEM and NOS parts and tribal knowledge that I see here.
Thanks!

Welcome aboard! Your Olds looks really well cared for. Being a native of northeast Ohio, I know how brutal the winter salty streets of that general area of the country can be on a car. We would love to see some interior pics also!

That's a nice ride. Pinehurst green. Popular color that year.

Welcome Mark and that's a nice ride 👍 Just a bit of personal advice....if Ohio doesn't require two license plates, I would take that front bracket off. It would make the front of the car look so much cleaner 😀

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome.
I'll get more pics when I can roll it out of the garage. I decided to do some carb work and got in over my head, so the carb is in a shop getting rebuilt. I've got other things to tinker with but right now it's only moving on "Fred Flintstone Power".
The interior is black with a bench seat. The carpet has seen better days, so it's getting replaced this winter. I see that Summit Racing, Fusick has complete carpet. I'm just not sure on the type and "pile". I want it to look original. Anybody have a suggestion?
To 35Tac - Hartville Area /USAF 77-84. I heard rumors of an Oldsmobile show/swap in the area but can't find any info. What do you know?
To 72455 - I thought briefly about removing the front plate bracket and going with one plate. There would still be a bare spot though. Also, I found a nice set of 1972 Ohio plates, so I want to run both front and back. I went the "hysterical" plate route so I need to register the vintage plates soon.

Thanks again!

Welcome aboard and a nice project to work on/enjoy. You'll want to get some Butyl based sound deadener, some thermal Insulation and then the carpert. ACC is the standard and usually cheapest place is rock auto. All the online retailers are selling the same stuff. If you want stock looking go for the 80/20 loop carpet or is you want thicker and more modern style get the Essex carpet. Either way you choose get it with the mass backing which helps quiet the car down.
