Hi All, picked up a Rallye 350 recently. Previous owner swears it's the real deal and not a clown car. I thought he meant clone, he stuck by his original statement.
All indicators, that I have learned, support this. Anyway looking forward to learning a few things here.

Welcome to the group... I've had a couple Rallye 350's in the past... Went so far as to modify one with a 455 back in the early 80's, just wanted more power, not thinking of any possible devaluation...
The "- -" paint code signifies special order paint. It could have been Sebring Yellow, it could have been Mary Kay pink, it could have been puke green. There's no way to know from the cowl tag. Also, I've seen some Sebring Yellow cars with 51 51 paint codes, not - -. Those were not Lansing cars.
The question was "do all Raylle 350's have - - for paint codes" to which I answered yes. He did not ask if the - - signified special paint codes on other cars of special colors. Joe, were the Sebring Yellow cars you saw Rallye 350's and were they 1970 models? Did all Rallye 350's have - - for paint codes?

They were 1970 Sebring Yellow cars, but not Rallyes. The Rallye/not Rallye is irrelevant. My point is that at some time in the model year, some of the plants actually put 51 instead of - on the cowl tag. My other point is that "- -" paint code doesn't mean anything about the car being a Rallye any more than a having an "M" for the assembly plant means that the car is a W-30 (I don't know how many times I've read that in an ad).
The question is real simple. Did all Rallye 350's have - - as the paint code? What other cars had is irrelevant since we are only talking about Rallye 350's. Granted - - paint code does not mean it is a Rallye but if it has something other than - - then does that mean it could not be a Rallye. Maybe this makes it clearer.

I understand the question. I can't say if that's true, given that some other Sebring Yellow cars got 51 51 paint codes. Suffice to say that it MUST be either - - or 51 51, if that's where you were going. This is called "necessary but not sufficient".
It does have the - - on cowl tag. As far as I can tell car matches tag. In my research I read that all Rallye cars vin would start with one of 2 specific sequences. It does. Rear sway bar alis there.
Anything else to look for?
Also I need to rebuild front suspension. Is there a replacement set of springs available for it? I have found plenty available but was wondering if certain ones matched the factory setup.
I think and I emphasize think I read on here some years ago the bumpers have a ground strap on them since they are painted and lights mounted in them would not work since they are not grounded through the bumper bolts.

Is that true? I had never heard that.
If I had a Rallye 350 I would 455 it and paint the motor 350 gold. Percentage of fools that would catch it would be ten percent.
Original proto type Rallye 350's were a few colors in 69. I might have to make my own custom.

The old rumor was that Oldsmobile said "We don't need Hurst" That is what created the Rallye 350. Oldsmobile puked the only yellow no W motor car. Sorry to the lovers. Where does a factory wing belong? Rallye 350!!
Where else?? I am so not into wings that weren't there. I NEVER EVER EVER saw a 442 with a factory wing. Ever. I grew up in the 60's-70's-80's. I NEVER saw a factory 442 etc with a factory wing. Now. Everyone puts one on. THEY WERE NEVER THERE!!! Just because you can buy something doesn't mean it belongs there. Deck lid spoilers completely break up the body lines. Just my opinion

Again, that doesn't mean anything. The Rallye 350 package was only available on the F85 Sport Coupe (3277 body style), Cutlass S Sport Coupe (3677), and Cutlass S Holiday Coupe (3687). Olds built many, MANY more of those cars than just Rallye 350 versions: 8,274 of the F85 Sport Coupes, 10,677 of the Cutlass S Sport Coupes, and 88,578 of the Cutlass S Holiday Coupes. All of those had the same VIN sequences as Rallye 350s. Once again, this is necessary but not sufficient.
One thing you can look for is if the car is an F85 (332770xxxxxx VIN). Rallye 350 cars based on the F85 got Cutlass emblems on the front fenders. This is documented in the Inspectors Guide.
Starting to get the hang of loading pics. Screen shots will load, but actual pics hit about 25% then stop.
Next is trying to use the camera function.
Or maybe read the instructions again. 🤣
Rallye 350 was a 1 year only car. From my understanding all came with the spoiler. The beauty rings and inserts on wheels were nit standard. Don't know if they wer an option or not. There is a build sheet in this thread you can go through and see if they are listed. Maybe someone with more knowledge on this will chime in.
I believe that the spoiler became optional later in the production year. It has been discussed on C.O. in the past. Not sure if I have a copy of the paperwork that points that out. I will look later.
