Hi Joe, yes I bought the car in the Palm Desert ad. Yes the gauges will be coming off of the instrament panel hood. The car is primered over the original paint. the underside of the car is so clean it is unbelievable. The intererior is original although the seats will have to be redone the rest, panels front and rear can be saved. The top is history. It looks like it may be an original 4 speed car, it has the center console. I posted pictures of the ID plates if someone can decypher them it would be a great help.
Thanks ERWIN

Rust free desert sheet metal is always a good start. Do you know if that turbo setup even runs? Be aware that parts for the 61-63 cars are not easy to come by. Good luck.
Thanks for the info on the wheels, I will look into it.
As for the console it may have been an automatic, there is not indication on the steering column that it was, the clutch and brake assembly look original, the car has a Borg Warner trans, don't know if it is a 3 or 4 speed yet, I haven't got that far yet. My grandson and I worked on the front fenders, and with some elbow grease and Laquer Thinner we are removing the primer and finding the original white paint.
Thanks for all the info from you Olds folks.
Thanks and thanks for the picture.

Is that a Buick V6 in the 63 as I see the distributor is in the front.
Nope.
The Olds 215 is based on a Buick-sourced design, which shares architecture with the V6 and small block Buick families. Olds used a specific block and pistons, and the heads and valvetrain are unique to Olds. In this photo, the Olds 215 is on the right, Buick on the left. Note the different shapes of the heads and valve covers.
Hey guys, I am back from seeing my Mother in Sacramento, she turned 93 yesterday.
So now back to working on the project, here is what I found. The car looks like it had a Borg-Warner three speed manual three speed added, the turbo we dertermined was frome a Buick (thanks to Joe), the wheels from an MG. The floors are solid, I am removing the primer with Laquer Thinner and finding the original paint, the interior is still the original but the seats are shot, the door panels and rear panels are good, the convertible top is gone but all the mech is there. I am in the parts gathering mode. I have not yet tried to fire the engine yet.
Just checking in, Cleaned out the gas tank blew out the liines replaced filters, went through the brakes and I fired up the F-85 and drove her around the block, couldn't go too far as it is on a non-op and not registered for the road. She ran great and stopped as well, still putting it together, although not original it is a blast and my grandson loves it.
