Talking New guy from Texas

Hey Y'all. PapaGrune from small town South Central Texas. I am the proud owner of a 1969 Cutlass S. I went to a estate sale of a friend of mine looking for some things that I knew were there. BUT some people got to his wife sometime before the sale.. I didn't want to do that as I would not have known when she was ready to talk about anything. John had been on dialysis for 12 years. John was a paint and body man his whole life. Most things out at his farm were from the local area.

Well everything I came to look at was gone..So I was wondering around... in a barn is this red car... I take a closer look and go dang... a 1969 Cutlass S.. He bought it (wrecked of course) fixed it. Took the white vinyl top off, repainted the brown car red.. All of this was after I moved to Houston. 38 years later I move home but never knew about this car... Off I go to find the step kids, who the mom has given the farm and all John's stuff to the kids. I ask the guy running the thing about the car. He says that they have not made up their mind about the car.. but to go ask her about it...

I ask her and she has to think about as she said that was the one she wanted to keep and fix up... But she said that she was going to sell it. BUT someone that had worked for John had asked about it.. She needed to get with him first and would let me know.... WOW I had 2nd dibs on it..

I go home but it was killing me..So I head back to the sale. She asked the guy , cousin, that shouldn't they call me? He says no. That's him walking up here.. Well she says it yours if I want it. The first guy passed on it. I yell a big YES, dancing around like Rocky Balboa hands up in in y
the air...I was a kid in a candy store with a pocket of change...

John had started to "restore" it..interior was out but seats up in the barn... Almost every thing is there. They did say he ran over the trunk lid and it just made him sick... Texas car it's whole life... NO RUST. he was the 2nd owner. He parked it when he built him a truck. It has been in that barn ever since then. He started on it, but the kidney disease put it on the back burner.

His wife wanted me to have it..I think his step kids did too. They later said that they were only going to sell it to someone local!!!! Did the first guy pass, or did they tell him NO... Either way it's mine for the grand total of $1500. I am pumped... I have owned a few Olds in the past, mostly a GM guy. Chevy's Pontiac, GMC .I started out at my local small rural Texas town, Pontiac - GMC dealer.

I will have it towed home next month. I will start on getting the engine running. 350 Rocket V8 2 barrel I think, and a turbo 350... White buckets and Console Shifter

Very interesting story...glad for you to get the car! Enjoy the restoration process and have fun with your "new" car. Buckets and a console makes it pretty neat! Give us some pictures when you get a chance!
