New guy from Texas

Hello. I recently purchased a 1972 cutlass. This will be my first olds and my first restoration. The car is complete body wise, but is missing the engine and trans. So I will be in need of some friendly help. Thank you.

Welcome from another Texan.
Where about in the great state are you?

I have a 455 2 bb. from a 70 Cutlass that
needs a rebuild. Post some pics of your car
when you get a chance.

Hey guys. I am in south Texas about an hour south of San Antonio. I posted a couple pics of the car in my album page. I have not had a chance to pick it up from the seller till this weekend(Just bought it Monday). Can't wait to get her home.

Welcome. There are a lot of us Texans on here. I am sure Richard will speak up. I am not going to go into politics but I like your name.

First bring her home this weekend. Second I found a olds 350 rocket motor from suppose to be a 1970 cutlass(So any info on engine date codes will help). What does a 350 rocket bring in these days? Third try to find a transmission. Ultimate goal to build a nice daily driver with a little power to raise a little hell on these Texas highways.

Welcome to CO from NC. I saw the post of the 442 you missed on the Junk Yard Dogs forum. Looks like you made up for that with this nice score! Good luck with your project.

new recruit

Welcome from San Antonio. I am familiar with your acquisition from Joe over at the body shop on Frio City. A 70 350 long block will have a #6 head and will normally use a 13/16 plug, however the 5/8 do exist.

Yeah, He seemed like a nice guy to deal with. He had a few other rides there that also had some promise.

Welcome to CO, TexasGunner!!! You might check with the folks in the South Texas Oldsmobile Club on your motor/parts/etc. Lots of good folks there, and wouldn't be surprised that there might be a motor/TM available. Most certainly good information and help on your project!
