When pulling up to a stop sign it feels like it won't kick down and rpms drop and starts to shutter and when it finally kicks it goes back to regular rpms, any ideas

 

Sounds like a valve body issue but before you start pulling things apart have you drained and replaced the trans fluid lately and Have you adjusted the tv linkage (carb to transmission kick down) according to the manual? That would be my guess from afar.... Tedd
