what's it worth ?
hey all, hello from port orchard washington. new to the site but not new to olds. lots to chat about, but i have a quick question... i have a 69 olds 442 , don't want to sell it but an offer was thrown at me today, guy says money no issue . it needs quarters and a trunk floor, some body work and paint. it has a .60 over 455, muncie 4-speed, all new front suspension and shocks. oh yea , springs too. dual exhaust, new rear shocks, new tires up front and mickey thompson drag radials out back. it has cragar drag stars at all four corners , 5 inch memory tach in dash(autometer), and autometer gauges. glass is all good. runs great , needs trans work. the question, what's it worth ? i know, what ever someones willing to pay for it, and sentimental value aside- just wondering.

Welcome to the site! Yes please post photos of your car. There are several other guys here from the Pacific Northwest. If you need to replace major panels on your car we may be able to help you find solid used ones if you don't want to go repop. John

It's difficult to value all of those extras, but given that it has rust issues and thus needs pretty much a full restoration, and assuming it runs and drives now, it's value, according to the Old Cars Price Guide, is about $9,000, assuming it's a 2-door hardtop. A 1969 2-door coupe 442 would be about $8,500, and a convertible would be about $12,000. You say it runs well but needs transmission work, so we're not sure from what you've said if it actually moves. If it doesn't, these values would obviously be lower. These are all #4 condition values.
Do any kind of decent restoration, and you really push the value up. In #3 condition (defined as what you typically see at car shows and cruise-ins), the hardtop, coupe, and convertible values rise to $21,000, $19,000, and $26,000, respectively.

hey all, yes i have pictures and i'll try to get them up soon. yes , it does move and can be driven. here's the trans problem, it's hard to get into second and won't stay in fourth. it's a hard top by the way. i have had many cutlasses (a 68, a couple of 69s, two 70s, a 72, a 73, two 77s , two 78s, a 79, many mid 80s, and a 94) , i forgot about the 72 convert, and the 67 convert. 66 hard top, a jetstar 88 convertible , and a 56 88, you get the hint. this is my first 442 and i want to keep her . don't know much about transmissions, that's why she's sitting. thanks again for any and all help !

1969 442 pics in california what is it worth.
I have a 1969 442 it seems to be all orginal with minor just on roof and done in the bottom of the quarters and fender only about 2 inchs each side. other then that the car is very solid even has orginal rally in the trunck and interior also the 400 motor even the ac pump is orginal and it runs and drives the only thing that is weird is the right head is a d head and the left is a c head so one of those isnt orginal I would guess. here are some pics how much do you guys think it is worth.
