A/C Removal & Transmission Size

Good Morning-

Thanks for this great site, I have no fear of taking my car apart with all
these friendly folks and their endless knowledge!! I have 2 unrelated questions....

#1-Can I remove all my A/C components without?? Its not working and with my budget right now I would love to have it out of the way, or is
it better just to leave it in.

#2-I have a 1971 Cutlass Supreme w/ 455 (used to be a 350). The previous owner had both the motor and trans rebuilt (nothing special) and I have now have a trans leak, will the TH350 hold up behind the 455??

Thanks for the Help!!

Tom

The worst you have to deal with is the A/C bump on the firewall and the compressor. It makes spark plug changes a little more difficult on the passenger side.

Hello all Olds fans. I am new here and have never posted anything anywhere. I have an 84 delta 88 coupe. I am looking to find a rear bumper right now. I am also interested in finding the rules/process for posting new posts, where I can post. Thank You much for any guidance for this absolute Olds newbie. YeeHa!!

BigChris20022

Welcome aboard guys. Nice of you to join us.

How about some pics of your cars.

After 2 days [and 5 post yo will be able to post anywhere. This just helps us prevent spamers from messing up the forum.

MIDelta,

Then you can post in the "parts wanted" section and find your gas tank.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find that anywhere else.
I've got a 1971 Cutlass (not an "S") hardtop coupe, Matador Red with white upper body stripe (Y75) and black vinyl roof and black interior. Its not a "true" muscle car, (350 2-bbl/single exhaust/350 auto on the column/2.56 open rear) but it looks hot. I'm only the second owner and its quite original (if it didn't come from the factory that way, its not on the car!). It was loaded from the factory with options. Four Olds Nationals, maybe a half dozen Olds Homecomings, and lots of other shows later, I've never seen another anything like it!

Geeeeezzzzzz..........

Sorry, I already posted in other places and didn't know about "newbie prison". Don't worry though I don't even like spam!
My name's Mike I'm 52, have a 4 year old daughter (my only child), a 39 year old wife, etc.
I've been into OLDS for 35 + years and have owned; 442's, Cutlass', big cars and Toronado's. Used to race Olds powered stock cars (oval asphalt tracks). The only Olds I currently own is a '66 Toronado, I've had it for 8 years and am finally about to start work on it. I've been a member of ROP (RealOldsPower) for several years. I'm presently not a OCA member but am a member of Toronado Owners Association #70.
Oh yeah, I live in Hastings Nebraska so sadly I've never met any of the folks on ROP since everyone lives pretty far from me. I've lurked around this fine site for a few years also but never posted 'til now.
Enough for now, hello every body and keep those OLDSMOBILES rollin'!

A reminder to all that the 2009 Oldsmobile Nationals (Oldsmobile Club of America) in Seven Springs Pennsylvania are coming up fast. There are over 100 cars already registered, with a limit of 400 cars on asphalt (but room for hundreds more on a stabilized surface). Lots of swap meet vendors are already registered, also. The hotel sold out its 400+ rooms a few weeks ago, but there are still condos, cabins, etc. available onsite and nearby. See www.alleghenyrockets.org for more information. You must be an Oldsmobile Club of America member to show your car and to participate in most events, but non-members are free to browse the car show and take advantage of the swap meet.
