Turnpike Cruiser
Turnpike Cruiser
Hi folks!
After many hours of reading here it's time to introduce myself.
Since a couple of weeks I am the owner of a Cutlass Supreme Turnpike Cruiser ('67). She was imported to Germany from upstate New York and is in pretty good condition: no rust (!) and runs smoothly. But when you look closer there are many signs of her age - so I'm looking forward to improve the car.
For the help of you all many thanks in advance - many questions will be inevitable!
Cheers - Thufir

Welcome. I am a collector of 66 67 cars. I have owned over 50 of them and have several at this time. Hope to be helpful. These are great cars. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy the ones I have owned.

It seems all your side trim is missing? A very cool car and from NY the rust free thing is unusual! Here is my TC thread. Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
@ Octania: the engine was modified: 455 Torker, Holley carb and a standard air cleaner...
@ Oldsmaniac: have already read your great thread - it was the first read here after I searched the internet for turnpike cruisers ^^
And the trim is all there but it came in the trunk of the car. Haven't decided yet what to do - I like the look with the center line wheels but I will have to weld the holes shut and paint the lower part. So I think I'll try the trim and have a look...

Thanks for asking OLD SKL 69.
There are quite a few things to be done:
First I will give her a decent cavity and underbody preservation - climate here in Germany is far from car friendly and winter is coming.
Then there are some technical issues: power steering pump is leaking, exhaust manifold gaskets are bad, fan clutch doesn't work properly (thinking of installing temperature indicator and a tach is nice to have also), ventilation and heating is out of function (a/c was ripped out), rear suspension needs at least new isolators (shock absorber might be a problem too)
That's what comes to my mind at first - so there's enough to do to get me over the long winter
