'68 4-4-2 TURNPIKE CRUISER

What is the intake manifold casting number for the '68 4-4-2 turnpike cruiser? I've found the part numbers for the camshaft and the air cleaner assembly but I can't seem to find anything on the intake manifold. Also, is the distributor the same on a turnpike cruiser as it is on the 4bbl? Any other differences that I should be aware with with regards to the turnpike cruiser? Thank you!

Parts book shows intake 397357 for 66-67 400-425 eng 2BC and 407566 for 68-69 400 eng 2BC. The 407566 is also used on all 68-72 455 2 BC engines. Difference probably has to do with the choke as they were switching from hot air chokes to divorced chokes in those years.

Distributor: 67 400 2BC except UHV is 1111151, with UHV is 1111179. 68 400 2BC 1111931.

According to the Sullivan resto guide the rear end should be a 2.56.
It's just a regular 2 barrel manifold isn't it? Or would it be something different?
The description for the '67 Cutlass Supreme TC option mentions heavy duty suspension components. They have a pic of a '67 4-4-2 with the option but the factory literature and author says it was only available on the Cutlass Supreme in '67 and the only 4-4-2 with it available as an option was the '68, got me?
The car has heavy duty front and rear sway bars in any case, may not of carried over to '68.

You have to take the Sullivan book with a grain of salt.

I've seen 67 with the Turnpike Cruiser aircleaner- pretty sure it's the same as the Climatic Combustion Control piece. It had a TC piepan on it anyway.

Correct. More specifically, in '67 the TC option *included* the K50 Climate Combustion Control. The K50 with the boxy air cleaner was an option independent of the TC, option L66 in '67 (option L65 in '68).
In '67, the TC was only available on the Cutlass Supreme (not available with the L78 442 option), with the Sports Coupe, Holiday Coupe, and Convertible.
In '68 it was an option on the 442 model only.
Both years, the *standard* rear with the TC was the 2.56, but 2.78 and 3.08 were available. So it *may* not have a 2.56 rear.
We need to be careful when we say something "comes with" something like a particular rear end ratio. When there are options, it may *not* "come with" what is standard.
Also in both years, it included the 442 suspension (in '68 because it *was* a 442!)
Interestingly in '68, the TC was essentially a no-cost option. It included the mandatory M40 automatic, but cost exactly the same as the M40 automatic.

FWIW, the Sullivan book needs be taken with a *salt mine* of salt with as many errors as it has!

At the risk of turning this into a "bash the Sullivan book" thread, I particularly liked the photo of the 442 with W-31 emblems.

Well- I know Pat and his dad, and they're good folks, but the book is notoriously inaccurate in spite of Sullivan Sr being the parts manager at Black Cad/Olds for umpteen or more years.

Back when it was all we had, it was great, but now that we've found more accurate info...

Quite true, and there is a lot of good useful info there. It was a large undertaking on their part.
*Most* of the errors are rather obvious to a halfway trained eye, so the errors should not be causing misinformation to be spread.

So how about a new edition with corrections?
