Ticking issue

Hay guys I'm new on here. I have a 1971 cutlass supreme coupe with a 350 rocket. Hooker headers, rpm performer intake, summit 650 cfm carb. Slight ticking noise coming from the driver side exhaust area. Not the exhaust though does anyone know if these stock heads have adjustable lifters ? Or would I have to replace or go with rockers ?? Thanks really appreciate the feed back !

How do you know it's not the exhaust? Header/manifold leaks can sound a lot like a lifter issue.

If it is a valvetrain issue, the most likely culprit is a damaged or worn rocker arm fulcrum which should be apparent once you get the valve cover off. The valvetrain is essentially non-adjustable.

I'm still going with a header leak, though.

Oh, and welcome!

Welcome to the site. Stock heads do not have adjustable rockers. I would get a mechanics stethoscope and double check the exhaust and valve cover area to see where your ticking originates.

Thanks fellas !!!

You guys are great thank you. I actually had the long tube headers and intake installed just a few days ago cause I was told the ticking was from the exhaust manifolds being worped. However the noise is still there so I'm thinking it's under that valve cover. I'm gonna drop the oil today add a stabilizer change the oil and see if it helps any, if not then I will pull the valve covers n go from there. This site is awesome !!!

Do the stethoscope thing and find out what you're dealing with before you start pouring a bunch of snake oil in with your regular oil.
