Seat belt bolts

Any suggestions on taking out the rear seat belt bolts on an "A" body. I am having hell busting them loose.

A good stout air impact wrench works wonders here.

If the bolts are hex head, grind down the socket to remove the chamfer at the end. that way you will bear on the entire depth of the hex on the bolt.

Angry Stubborn bolts

You could try heating up the nut just before you are ready with the socket, a six point gives a better bite...but then I just realized that there is a nylon insert in the bolt that is there for interference and heat will ruin that function...so it's your choice...

If they are rusted and I am assuming they are, try soaking them in coke. Yes the soda, if pb blast and penetrating oil does not work, coke does. let it sit overnight or more so it has time to soak in, the stuff is loaded with acid that will eat the rust, and the syrup acts as a lubricant. We did this on split rim truck tires back in the day and works wonders.

Chad that is interesting. I think I might try it on some exhaust manifold bolts that I have been soaking in PB Blaster. Coke is definitely cheaper.

Tried liquid wrench, impact wrench, heat and still no go. Do not know about grinding since seat and seat belt retractor are really close the head of the bolt. I have just about wallowed out the head to a point I am reluctant to go any further but I need to get it out to remove the seat back. Any more suggestions?

What year car are you working on and exactly which bolt is stuck?
Does it have the torx or hex head? If worse comes to worse, you may need to drill or dremel it out...
My 72 gave no problem, thought he bolts were tight...

the bolts need to be thoroughly submerged in it overnight to do its thing, but worked for split rims that were rusty in the tire shop.

The car is a 73 supreme. It is a torx head bolt.

Have you tried getting help to heat the "nut" from the back side?

Try a 1/2 " breaker bar(maybe with a piece of pipe on it) to break it loose then impact gun. Try the impact in both directions: try tightening then loosening and maybe you can crack it loose.

My 70 SX convertible had the same problem and I was able to soak it with Aero Kroil penetrating oil (great stuff) from the back. I ended up getting 3 out that way easily (soaked for 3-4 days) with an air impact wrench. The 4th one, unfortunately stripped the head, so I wrapped the cloth belt to protect it and then welded a nut onto the top of the bolt. Then the air impact gun took it right out. If you have a welder - give that a try if the previous methods don't work.

Well, I finally got it. Someone who previously owned this car had been attempting to remove it because I found a torx bit stuck in the bolt head when I removed the seat. Anywho they had already wallowed the head pretty good and I just did more damage. I did what you said. Drill and dremel and finally got the head off.
